I live in Fort McMurray. You may have seen us on the news.

All 90,000 residents have been evacuated due to a fire. The city is burning.

We left yesterday. It was a horror show. Fires, smoke, burning.

We are safe, together and far from town.

I’m not sure what comes next. But I know I will be ok.

Stillness and peace

  10. I was just thinking of you and your family, how all the work you’ve done these past years in recovery will have allowed you both to lead your kids through this horrible event with a kind of strength and peace you didn’t have available to you when you were drinking. I’m sure you are feeling tested in every way right now. Please know you have so many unseen people sending love, strength and support Anne, reciprocating the support you’ve given to them when they reached out. Please keep writing through this. Xoxo

      1. I can very well imagine. Well, I was already shaken to see the footage online. It is very disturbing. I think to know you very much like appreciate stillness and peace but ‘shock and horror’ is what sprang to my mind. 😦
Sending you a long distance, non-smokey hug. Hoping you, your family and community will get through this as good as you possibly can.
        xx, Feeling

  12. Keeping you and your family and neighbors in my prayers, Anne. You are an inspiration in courage, even if you don’t always feel that way. Not knowing what comes next but knowing that you’ll be ok – that is a powerful place to be. Thinking of you!

  13. Anne – Sending love and best wishes for you.
I have been reading the coverage and thinking of you, and your family. I hope you continue to be safe with your family, and hoping that something works soon to end this for you.
    With love x Claire
